Croton-Harmon High School Valedictorian And Salutatorian Reflect
Sophie Bauder and Sarah Seidman have enjoyed motivating each other academically through their friendly-competitive relationship.

From the Croton-Harmon School District: For several years, Sophie Bauder and Sarah Seidman have enjoyed motivating each other academically through their friendly-competitive relationship, and this year, it paid off.
“It has been a productive kind of competition,” said Bauder, who was named Croton-Harmon High School’s class of 2017’s valedictorian. “Every quarter, we would go into close detail analyzing our grades.”
And now that their final year of high school is winding down, the two remain as close as ever and are proud of each other’s achievements. Seidman, the salutatorian, said she has appreciated growing up in the small community. Both have attended the Croton-Harmon schools since kindergarten.

“It has been really nice,” she said.
Both students have taken advantage of the wide range of opportunities in the schools. Seidman is quick to praise the high school’s science research and C.H.O.O.S.E. programs and fondly recalls serving as founder and president of the school’s book club. Bauder has been active in performing in the school’s drama and musical productions each year, while serving as a member of the Student Faculty Congress. Both participated in academic challenge competitions, among other clubs and teams.
