From Croton-Harmon: Croton-Harmon students recently welcomed students from Shanghai’s Jian Ping High School, the district’s sister school, for a weeklong visit.
The visiting students stayed with local families throughout their visit and were officially welcomed to Croton-Harmon High School on Jan. 17.
“The Croton-Harmon families are so warm and wonderful,” said Garrick Yau, Jian Ping’s trip coordinator.

The students visited Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School, where they presented topics about Chinese culture, including food, games and the zodiac calendar to third- graders on Jan. 19.
The CET students learned how to pronounce some common words in Mandarin and played games like “throw the handkerchief,” a variation of “duck, duck, goose.” Students also sampled Chinese candy and drew animals from the Chinese zodiac, including dragons, pigs and horses.
