Croton Hurricane Damage Update

Trees down, roads flooding and many without power in the Village of Croton-on-Hudson.

Croton-on-Hudson residents and officials are dealing with flooding, trees down and power outages this morning. The Village expects high tide to hit at 10:20 a.m. Officials are closing Albany Post Rd., north of Arrowcrest Dr. due to flooding.

Southbound Rt. 9A is closed near Montrose Station Rd. "People should just stay home… People should avoid driving and they should call 271-5177, which is our non-emergency police line, if they have a situation that they want to report," said Croton Mayor Leo Wiegman.

"There are many power outages and many areas of flooding. We have probably 15-20 areas that are without power," said Wiegman.  On Morningside Dr. there is a tree down. On Bungalow Rd. there is a tree on the wires. There is also a tree down on Thompson Ave. Sunset Trail is closed due the fact that a tree has come down. A power pole has snapped on Glengary Rd. Power is out at upper N. Highland Pl., Mt. Green Rd., Lounsbury Rd.

So far there have been no water rescues in the Village of Croton and officials are not aware of any sewer backups.

"We anticipate that the rain should slow down considerably by 2 p.m. today in the Ossining-Croton area," said Mayor Wiegman. "We have a full DPW crew ready to mobilize and do cleanup… crews will go out once the wind conditions are acceptable."
