
Biker Hits Pothole
A call that originally came into Croton police for a car vs. bike accident, turned out to just involve a bike, reports Croton Sgt. John Nikitopoulos.
On June 4 at 8 a.m. a bicycle struck a pothole in the parking lot at the Gulf Station on Riverside and Elmore Avenues. EMS arrived but the cyclist refused medical attention, Nikitopoulos said.
Park Ranger Finds Dog Violations
On June 3 around 4:30 p.m., a park ranger at Croton Landing Park issued a violation to dog owner for letting their pet roam freely. The dog owner was a Croton resident.
A Croton park ranger the next day issued a village ordinance violation around 4 p.m. to someone who had their dog in a no-dog zone. No dogs are allowed at the canoe launch at Veterans Plaza near the train station, police said.
Flimflam Scam
"Flimflam" is how Sgt. Nikitopoulous described this suspicious incident in the police reports.
A Croton resident called police to report that a person in Florida had contacted her to purchase her painting (on sale for $1,250). The person then sent a cashier's check for $32.50 with instructions on how to receive the rest of the money. The Croton resident found this suspicious and told police they did not try to cash the check.
Deer with Missing Hoof
Someone called police to report sighting an injured animal on June 5. The caller said they saw a deer with a broken leg on Old Post Road North on their property. It was missing part of its hoof and running around.
Police at the scene could not locate the deer.
In another incident, a deer was injured, and had to be killed by police, after running into a car on Route 9 North on June 5 at 8:10 a.m.
Possible Hunter in the Woods?
A resident on Cleveland Drive reported to police on June 7 at 11:39 a.m. hearing cracks as if from gunfire and reportedly seeing deer fleeing behind his property. The resident said he didn't see a person in the woods, but suspected there was possibly a hunter there. Police could not find anyone.
Drunk Bunch Banging Into Cars
An anonymous person phoned in a disorderly persons complaint, saying that a "drunk bunch" was "banging into cars" at 3 a.m. on Radner Avenue. Police at the scene observed no violations.
