DVD bootlegger bust
A man with about 100 bootlegged movie DVDs in his possession was caught by Croton police and charged with trademark counterfeiting.
The 46-year-old man from Brooklyn was nabbed in Croton Commons parking lot on June 25 just before 5 p.m., where he was allegedly trying to sell his illegally copied DVDs.
Sgt. John Nikitopoulos said he had "quite a few movies" on him -- he estimated about 100. The man was charged with trademark counterfeiting, posted his $300 bail, and was given a court date.
Too good to be true
A Finney Farm resident was promised a deal too good to be true.
The resident contacted police on June 26 to report that someone had called promising him $450,000 in exchange for $600.
Police had a few numbers that hadn't lead to anything but are continuing their investigation, Nikitopoulos said.
Criminal mischief at the middle school
Police were called to investigate a case of criminal mischief at the PVC middle school on Glen Place, where fireworks possibly ignited and caused damage sometime overnight on June 27.
Police found the next morning in the courtyard: a porta-potty and a garbage can knocked over, along with the remains of what looked to be a Roman Candle that had gone off, Nikitopoulos said.
