Croton Police: More Graffiti, 9-11 Memorial Climbing, Financial Frauds

A summary of recent police activity in the village of Croton-on-Hudson.

More Graffiti

Police responded to, and the village recreation department said they would clean up after, several calls about graffiti around the area this week.

On the morning of August 6, the recreation department notified police that they had found some blue spray paint on a rock at Croton Landing.

On August 9, someone reported criminal mischief in Duck Pond Park. There was graffiti discovered on the Verizon utility box done in black magic marker, police said.

Climbing on 9-11 Memorial

Police received a complaint just before 11 p.m. on August 6 that people were climbing on the 9-11 memorial at Croton Landing. Police found no one on the monument when they arrived and cleared the park, which, they remind citizens, is closed at dusk like all local parks.

Financial Frauds

A Giglio Court resident told Croton police on August 7 that someone had tried to transfer $7,500 out of her account into another.

On August 8, a Bari Manor resident informed police that he had received notice that he was a winner in the "Spanish International Sweepstakes" and all he had to do to claim his money was open an account in his name and seed it with some of his own money. The sweepstakes gave him instructions on how to do so, which he luckily did not follow.
