Croton Man Arrested for Home Invasion

A New York State Police investigation into an August home invasion ends with the arrest of a 20-year-old Croton resident.

The following information is a news releases from the New York State Police.

The New York State Police have been investigating a home invasion burglary from Aug. 16, 2011 that occurred on 1419 Washington St., Cortlandt at approximately 4:30am.

The victim reported that unknown males forcefully entered his residence and demanded property from him. The victim was asleep at the time when suspect Matthew Theis, 20, of Croton, forcefully broke down the bedroom door to gain access. No property was taken and Theis fled the area after the victim jumped out of his bedroom window to get away.

Theis was arraigned by Town of Cortlandt Judge Daniel McCarthy and remanded to Weschester County Jail in lieu of $30,000 bail. He is also currently out on $2,000 bail for fourth-degree criminal Possession Marihuana out of the Village of Croton Court.  If anyone has any information regarding Theis's activities, contact Cortlandt BCI Investigator David Atkins
