The sexual abuse happened while the child was asleep, prosecutors said.

OSSINING, NY — A Connecticut man will be going to prison after a jury found him guilty of having sex with a child.

Westchester County District Attorney Miriam Rocah said Angel Castro Maldonado, 40, of Danbury, Connecticut, was convicted by a jury on Oct. 11 of second-degree course of sexual conduct, a felony.

He was sentenced to seven years in state prison Tuesday. He will also be subject to 10 years of post-release supervision and is required to register as a sex offender.

Prosecutors said Maldonado repeatedly subjected the victim to multiple sexual acts while the minor was asleep between September 2018 and March 2020 in the village of Ossining. The sexual conduct began when the victim was 11.

The Ossining Village Police Department arrested him Sept. 22, 2021, following an investigation, which was conducted with assistance from the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office.
