Effort to Increase Hispanic Elected Officials

There is an effort underway to increase the number of Hispanic elected officials in our area.

Ossining's former Mayor is spearheading the effort to move more individuals with Hispanic backgrounds into elected government roles. On Saturday, former Mayor Miguel Hernandez will hold a seminar that is designed help those who are interested in running for elected positions.

“The dearth of Hispanics in public offices relative to their numbers in the Westchester population motivated me to launch this effort," said Hernandez.

The seminar will focus on preparing to run at the county and municipal level, as well as school board positions and other policymaking boards. Those attending will learn about the strategy and tactics for winning a campaign and running a political organization.

“I look forward to this opportunity to serve as a teacher and mentor to all people who are desirous of serving their communities though public service," said Carlucci.
