Happy 100th to Croton's Eva Sheffield
A big happy 100th birthday to Croton-on-Hudson's Eva Sheffield!

Surrounded by friends and family, Evelyn “Eva” Sheffield celebrated her 100th birthday at The Springvale Inn in Croton this past weekend where she has been a resident for the past six years. Ms. Sheffield, is pictured here with her daughter, Rosalie, during the festivities recognizing hermilestone.
As a child, Ms. Sheffield lived in New York City, where her father, an immigrant from Russia, had a furrier business. Upon graduating from Julia Richman High School she worked at the Hebrew OrphanAsylum where she met Lud, who would later become her husband. They married in 1942 and fourmonths later he was drafted into the army and was sent to the Philippines. When he returned theylived at the Pleasantville Cottage School were Lud was the Music Director and Ms. Sheffield worked inthe administrative offices.

In 1954, they moved to a house in Pleasantville so there daughter, Rosalie, could attend school there.They lived in that house until the couple moved to The Springvale Inn in 2006. Lud would give a concert every Monday night in Eva’s honor until he passed away last year.
Ms. Sheffield continues to live at the Inn where she participates in programs and enjoys spending timewith her family. The Bethel community joins in congratulating Ms. Sheffield on the occasion of her 100th birthday and wishes her continued good health and happiness.
