Heat Warning for Croton & Ossining

The heat and humidity that has been blamed for as many as 22 deaths nationwide is upon us.

The National Weather Service is issuing a so-called "Excessive Heat Warning." This type of warning is issued when the humidity and heat are going to make it feel like it's 105° or more. The Excessive Heat Warning is in effect from noon-8 p.m.

Officials are also issuing an "Air Quality Alert." An Air Quality Alert means that air quality will reach unhealthy levels. Officials are suggesting that individuals remain in air-conditioning during the afternoon and early-evening hours. Poor air quality can aggravate asthma, cause shortness of breath and throat irritation. The Air Quality Alert is in effect from 11 a.m.-11 p.m.

For today we will see mostly sunny skies and a high around 96°. The heat index will be around 105°.

Tonight we will dip down to 75°. The wind will be gently blowing around 3-7 mph.

For your Friday there will be a 20% chance of an isolated storm after 11 a.m. However, the heat will stick around as we deal with a high of 99° and a 105° heat index.
