Cumulatively, said Bill Potter on Hudson Valley Weather's Facebook post Monday morning, in the past 10 days most of the region "has seen at least 5 inches of rain... which is more than a month's worth of rainfall."

A small section of southeast Orange County and Putnam County, he said, received "10 to 15 inches of rain in 10 days... which is basically 2 to 3 months worth of rain in 10 days... and much of that fell in 1 day, resulting in the severe flash flooding that got national news attention."
