OSSINING, NY — President George Bush said in his inaugural address, "I ask you to be citizens. Citizens, not spectators. Citizens, not subjects. Responsible citizens building communities of service and a nation of character."
There are plenty of upcoming chances to help tend to our democracy close to the roots. Several public meetings are scheduled for this week that affect Croton-on-Hudson and Ossining.

- Croton-on-Hudson village Board of Trustees, 7 p.m., Municipal Building. On the agenda: a Wireless Infrastructure Master Plan for the village. See the full agenda here.
- Ossining village Historic Preservation Commission, 7 p.m. See the agenda here.
Tuesday
- Indian Point Decommissioning forum, 6 p.m. Cortlandt Town Hall. The state Department of Public Service will host a public forum with a panel of experts from the NRC, EPA, and relevant New York agencies. You may register to attend in person or virtually until noon Monday.
- Ossining village Zoning Board, 7 p.m., John Paul Rodrigues Ossining Operations Center. See the agenda here.
