Injured Metro-North Worker in Stable Condition
MTA releases identity of employee who was struck by a train in the Croton-Harmon rail yards.
MTA officials say Sanford “Sandy” Tabin is the Metro-North mechanic who was injured at the Croton-Harmon rail yards Tuesday evening. Tabin is a 55-year-old Kingston resident who has been working for the railroad for 31 years.
Officials say a locomotive hit Tabin while he and other workers were replacing engines in the rail yard. The accident happened at 5:55 p.m. on May 31.
Tabin was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center shortly after the accident. He suffered internal injuries and broken ribs. Tabin is currently in stable condition at the medical center.
