The Police Chief requested crisis negotiators from the Ulster County Sheriff's Department. After a few hours, the negotiator was able to convince the subject to surrender without incident. He was then taken into custody and taken to Health Alliance Hospital for treatment.
Police said that out of an abundance of caution, and because the events unfolded in a dense residential area, surrounding roads were closed, and neighbors were ordered to shelter in place.
