Ossining Bank Scare
Ossining's Emigrant Bank was evacuated due to a report about a suspicious package.

County and Village Police converged on Ossining's Emigrant Bank as workers evacuated the building yesterday morning. The tense situation ensued after a bank employee reported a suspicious envelope inside the building.
Investigators say bank workers told them that a powdery substance spilled out of an envelope after it was opened. Police got the call about the incident around 10:30 a.m. The Village of Ossining Police Department immediately called in the Westchester County Police Department's Hazardous Incident Team.
When the Hazardous Incident Team arrived, the people who worked on the first floor of the bank, which is located at 13 Croton Avenue, were ordered to leave the building. The team then tested the substance to see if it was harmful. The preliminary test showed that there were no harmful materials inside the envelope. County Police then gave employees the okay to go back into the building around noon.

Investigators believe that the substance may have been decorations, like those on a greeting card, that had fallen off and accumulated at the bottom of the envelope.
