Ossining Councilman Heads Across the Pond

Town of Ossining Councilman Peter Tripodi will study U.K. government as part of his university's study abroad program.

Councilman Peter Tripodi is heading across the pond. He's making the trip to study U.K. local government as part of the master's degree that he is working on. The 26-year-old Ossining lawmaker is currently a graduate student at Pace University.

Tripodi is set to leave for the study abroad program in Oxford, England on June 30. The program concludes on July 12.

“I am truly excited to partake and experience this wonderful program," said Tripodi.

The town councilman is working towards finishing his Master of Public Administration in government. He says that the travel course focuses on comparing local government in the U.S. to United Kingdom local government.

"I have already begun to attend prep classes in White Plains and the differences are many. But the similarities are very close to our system of governance in the states, since it was Britain’s model that we based our government structure on,” said Tripodi.

During the program, Tripodi will meet with Oxford's Lord Mayor and meet with the common county council, which is equivalent of our board of legislators. He will also attend a court session, as well as other cultural events and lectures.
