Ossining-Croton Weekend Road Closures

Croton and Ossining officials are warning people who live here about multiple road closures on Sunday.

People who live in Ossining and Croton-on-Hudson will need to do some rerouting this weekend when driving around due to multiple road closures. The closures will be caused by the , which is happening this Sunday.

Officials say the road closures will be in effect from 5 a.m. until 1 p.m. The competition begins at 6:30 a.m. with a 1.2-mile swim. After the swimming portion, the 56-mile bike event begins at 7:15 a.m. The bicycling course will cause Route 9/9A southbound to be closed. The closure will extend from Annsville Circle all the way down to Route 100 in Briarcliff Manor.

Officials say that anyone who wants to go south during the course of the triathlon from Croton should take Route 129 east to Quaker Bridge Rd. They should then go over the Quaker Bridge and continue south on Quaker Bridge Road south until it meets Albany Post Road. From there you can go south to access Route 9 south in Ossining.

In addition to biking, the triathlon participants will also be running 13.1-miles, beginning at 9:30 a.m. The athletes will run through Van Cortlandt Manor out to Route 129. Even though Route 129 will remain open, its lanes will be narrowed with cones. Officials say that anyone driving on 129 at that time should expect delays.

People are invited to come out and cheer on the athletes as they travel to and from Croton, and head to to finish the competition. Officials say that there will be shuttle bus service from the train station to the park between the hours of 5 a.m. until 4 p.m. For further information you can visit the toughman website at http://www.toughmantri.com.
