Ossining Election Shakeup

One candidate has moved to another race and two new candidates have jumped in.

Ossining's court consolidation is causing candidates to move around as the November election approaches. On January 1 the village's court will be dissolved. That means Village Justice Raymond Barlaam and Acting Village Justice William Hamilton's position will no longer be needed.

As the village's court is dissolved, the town's court will ad a justice position. There are currently two Town of Ossining justices, John Fried and Nancy Quinn Koba. This November Fried's seat is up for grabs. Before the court consolidation Fried had been running unopposed, but now there will be two seats up for grabs and three people vying for them. Fried, who is a Democrat, will be competing with Democrat Michael Tawil and Republican John Mangialardi.

Before Tawil threw his hat into the justice race he was running for reelection as a Town of Ossining council member. Now that Tawil has removed himself from the town board race, the Democrats will now run Ossining resident Eric Blaha. Blaha will be in the ring with Democrat Geoffrey Harter, Republican Stephen Dewey and Republican Kim Izzarelli. The four candidates will be fighting it out for the two seats that are up for grabs this November.
