Ossining GOP Chair Talks About the Presidential Debate

Patch asked a number of Croton-on-Hudson and Ossining officials for their take on last night's presidential debate.

Patch asked Ossining GOP Chairman Steve Dewey what he thought about last night's debate. Here's what he had to say.

While I believe many feels jobs and economy are the main issues, I am still concerned as to whom will bring back America as the strength around the world.  For me, this is a serious issue in this global climate.  It’s gone unsaid by the mainstream media, however, it boggles the imagination that the moderator had to step in to defend Obama on his inaction after the 9/11 terror attack on our Embassy.  Obama did not say in his 9/11 speech at the Rose Garden that it was a terror attack, (because I watched it).. he made a general statement (and I am paraphrasing) that no terror attacks will be tolerated.. which he should have said.. But he and the administration should not have the American people wait 14 days to tell us the truth.. despite the fact that Libyan Pres. Magarief had already confirm this.

While Romney called him out on this fact, he missed the opportunity to point out that the White House sent our US Ambassador Rice around the television stations for five days and blamed a video, and Obama appeared at the UN and 5-6 times blamed this on a video.  If Obama called it a terror attack at the Rose Garden as he alleged, (instead of his snide “proceed Governor” remark), Romney should have pointed out that our President did nothing.  Obama can’t have it both ways.

Romney also was fair in pointing out the oil drilling permits (and there is a difference between off-shore and domestic drilling).. and I can’t believe Obama didn’t know his own facts on this.   Romney had a chance to challenge Obama on why George Soros gets all of the rights to drill in off the Brazilian Coast, and allow China to drill of Cuba.. but we can’t drill in our own Gulf… What jobs went overseas there! And then Soros funnels the monies back to the Obama campaign….. it’s so blatant that is damn near accepted.

But, Obama had to come out strong this debate, we all knew that.. so not a surprise.  I felt he, like Biden, was disrespectful and didn’t answer the questions.. funny how Romney is always asked to “be specific” as to what he’ll do.. but Obama doesn’t have to explain any “specifics” to his failing policies.  He’s arrogant, not confident…. and that is troubling.  Just because he “showed up” this time, doesn’t mean he won..

I can’t believe (unless I missed it).. a question to Obama on his Obamacare debacle.  These were “undecided” voters.. yeah, right.

It is also concerning that these “un-decided” voters (I mean really, most questions were snowballs for Obama)

Romney need not fight with the moderator.. and while I am glad someone got into Obama’s “personal space”.. as Obama did the same to Romney – I think a majority of viewers may not have liked it.. but it demonstrates that Romney is not afraid of bully, his Chicago tactics of blame and evasion of the answers.  It shows me that Romney won’t apologize or back down to a foreign governments.  Romney needs to stay on point.  He was the same Romney we saw in the first debate.  Thus, while everyone will say Obama “won” … I don’t see it that way.  Romney explained the facts well, and when he makes a great point that “we don’t have to accept $4.00 gas”.. that hits home to all viewers.

Romney still comes off more “presidential” than a person behind the Oval office for 4 years now.  I don’t need to listen to Fox, or the mainstream squabble.. I know what I have seen for 3 debates.

This, seriously, is the most important election.. it’s not about Obama or Romney (and certainly not about political party).. it is a choice between Capitalism versus Socialism.  If we have unalienable rights right to life and liberty, why would anyone choose their right to pursue happiness by handing it over to the Government.

Look, (as Ryan would say), the bottom line is that it’s about either candidate winning or losing.  Americans have lost 4 years …. There is no excuse for $4.00 gas and $6.00 gas in California.  There is no excuse for a weak dollar.  There is no excuse when we apologize to other nations.  There is no excuse to now allow Americans the freedom to prosper.  There is no excuse to “hand out” poverty upon Americans.  American’s liberties are losing to socialistic policies so we can be like other Countries!  That’s why other Countries are failing.. it shouldn’t fail us here.
