Village of Ossining Hurricane Damage Update

Flooding, trees down and a power outage reported in Ossining.

Hurricane Irene has brought flooding and downed trees to Ossining. A trees fell on homes at 73 Hunter and 95 Brooke Club Dr.

Streets are closed down at the intersections of Snowden and Broadway, Rockledge Ave. and Revolutionary Rd., 9A between 133 and 134., S. Highland and Rockledge, Croton Ave. and Pleasantville Rd., Pleasantville and Underhill Rd.

The Ossining train station and tracks have also become flooded. There is also a raw sewage backup there. The sewage backup is due to the fact that the county sewage plant next to the park is beyond its capacity. "There's really no access to the area down by the train," said Ossining Mayor Bill Hanauer. Hanauer says there is also a home on Emwilton Pl. that is reporting sewage backup.

Residents were rescued from a home at the intersection of Rockledge and Revolutionary Rd. around 6 a.m. after the area around their home became flooded.

Power outages due to downed wires have only been reported on Pocantico Rd. so far this morning.

Two women with their children are using the community center as a storm shelter.
