Ossining Police Patrols Increase Due to Break-ins

The following report was produced and written by Kieran O'Leary of the Westchester County Department:

Tuesday, Nov. 28 – 4:50 p.m. – Two residents of Spring Pond Road reported to that items were stolen from their vehicles while they were parked outside their homes. A resident contacted county police to report that someone had stolen an iPod Touch from her son’s car sometime between Nov. 25 at 7 p.m. and 1 p.m. on Nov. 26.  While an officer was taking that report, another resident approached to report that an iPod Nano, a bottle of perfume and $40 in cash had been stolen from her car sometime overnight. County police advised the residents to keep their cars locked. Nighttime patrols in the area have been increased in response to the break-ins.

4:35 p.m. – A Mahopac man reported to Westchester County Police that he was involved in a road rage incident along southbound Route 100 in the vicinity of Chappaqua Road.  The man said he was aggressively cut off by the driver of a green Chevy Tahoe who was yelling and gesturing at him.  The Mahopac driver drove to the Westchester County Police Ossining Command to report the incident.

12:10 p.m. – An employee at the reported to Westchester County Police that another vehicle followed her as she drove from the school to a nearby store.  The other driver then blocked her in as she parked and accused her of not stopping at a stop sign while leaving the school grounds.  The staff member asked for a report to be filed because she recognized the other driver as someone who lives near the school and has complained about traffic-related issues in the past.

Wednesday, Nov. 29 – 7:50 p.m. – Westchester County Police assisted an 81-year-old resident of Ryder Road who was feeling ill and weak. The woman was subsequently transported to by the Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Thursday, Nov. 30 – 1:13 p.m. -- A resident of Stonegate Road called county police to report that a man was knocking on her door and trying to gain entry to her home. Upon arrival, officers found a North Salem man who said he had done work on the woman’s car and did not get paid. The resident said she had paid the bill. Officers advised the man to pursue the matter in civil court and not return to the woman’s property again.

11:35 p.m. – County police responded to a fire alarm at a business on North State Road. An employee reported that a malfunctioning space heater had caused a smoke condition that set off the alarm. The Briarcliff Manor Fire Department also responded and ventilated the smoke.

Friday, Dec. 2 – 11:06 a.m. – A residents of Woods Broke Terrace reported to county police that a former co-worker had left her a threatening voice mail.
