Ossining Ranks as Top Town for Jobseekers

The Town Ossining ranks among the top 10 in New York to find a job, according to a study released by consumer advocacy site Nerdwallet.com.

Ossining comes in at exactly 10th actually, putting it on the short-list of places that rank highest for jobseekers due to three contributing factors: population growth, mean income, and low unemployment rates. First on the list is Rockville Center, Long Island. The other Westchester county placeholders are, in this order, Eastchester, Harrison, Mamaroneck and White Plains.

The unemployment rate for the state overall is on the mend, at 7.6 percent now down from 8.4 percent in January, 2013.

In Ossining, this number drops much lower to 5.9 percent unemployment.

Mean household income here is $70,872.

Population growth in the town went up 5.6 percent from 2008 to 2011.
