Ossining's Bernard Vernon Dead at 76
People in the Ossining area are saying goodbye to Bernard Vernon.

Friends and family are remembering longtime Ossining resident Bernard Vernon. Vernon's wake was held at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Peekskill on Friday, along with his funeral service.
The Vernon family is asking that donations be made to the Bernard R. Vernon Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Scholarship Fund. Donations can be sent to 65 Cedar Lane Ossining, NY 10562.
Vernon was born on December 15, 1935. He was one of eight children. His parents were Cassandra Rose Green and Thomas Vernon of Montego Bay Jamaica. Vernon graduated from Cornwall College High School in Montego Bay. He then went on to Howard University in Washington, DC where he got his B.A.
Vernon is survived by his wife Francine, sisters, brothers and other family members. Vernon passed away at his Ossining home last Saturday.
