Ossining's Chemistry of Food

How does heating change food? What is the difference between chocolate and fudge? All these questions will be answered on September 14.

Thanks to Ossining Senior Services for the following.

"The Chemistry of Food and Cooking," a Westchester  Community College Mainstream course for senior citizens age 60 plus, is scheduled to begin on Friday, Sept. 14 at 10 a.m. at the , 95 Broadway, Ossining.  

The class will be taught by Dr. Sandra Flank of the Westchester Community College.  Some of the issues to be addressed in the class include - How does heating change food? What is the difference between chocolate and fudge? What chemicals do I eat? What's the difference between sugar and artificial sweeteners? What do some of the words on food packaging mean?

The class will be held on Sept. 14, 21 and 28 and Oct. 12, 10 a.m. - 12 noon. Contact Kathy Asaro or Debbie Klein, 941-7198, to sign up for the class. Though the class is free, registration is necessary.
