Ossining Landmark Could Get New Life

Village reaches out to developers who are interested in redeveloping a historic bank and downtown lot — with a June 3 deadline.

The old Ossining Bank for Savings building has long been a landmark for those coming into the village on Route 9.

Now the is accepting proposals from developers who are interested in redeveloping it, at 200 Main St., and  sites located at 147-155 Main.

The property at 147-155 Main is currently being used as a parking lot. Multiple buildings had stood on the site, but a fire in the mid-90s burned those buildings down.

Now the village is looking at turning the property into a mixed-use site.

“We’d like to have some sort of public draw component to it. So it would bring in people from outside the village,” said Ossining Village Planner Valerie Monastra.

The village had a focus group analyze that site last year, along with the property at 147-155 Main St. After the analysis, it was determined that the bank building should be an anchor, which would attract people to the area.

Any developers interested in either of the two sites are asked to send their request for proposals to Monastra.  Her phone number is 914-762-6232 and her email is vmonastra@ossbuilding.org.  The deadline for requests for proposals is June 3.
