Pedestrian Killed Crossing Route 141 in Mount Pleasant
Police say a 78-year-old Pleasantville woman was driving the vehicle struck the man.

A 47-year-old Hawthorne resident was killed Tuesday after being struck by a vehicle on Commerce Street, police said.
"It was reported at 6:20 p.m. on Commerce Street near the intersection of Elwood Avenue," said Mount Pleasant Chief of Police Louis Alagno.

Joseph Bondi was crossing Route 141 when a Saturn Ion driven by Meron Austin, a 78-year-old Pleasantville resident, hit him, Alagno said.
"Mr. Bondi was transported to Westchester Medical Center by Hawthorne Fire and Ambulance units," he said, "where he was pronunced dead on arrival."

Both Mount Pleasant Police and New York State Police are investigating the accident—"At this time there are no criminal charges," the Chief said.
