A few reports of rabid animals kept police busy on Oct. 15.
Village of Croton-on-Hudson police received a call for a rapid skunk on Gerstein Street at 7:56 a.m. but couldn't find it when they got there.
At 9:05 a.m., they got a call for a rapid raccoon on Emerson Avenue, which they found, killed and disposed of.
At 9:15 a.m., the Gerstein Street skunk was back, but it again evaded the authorities.
At 2:15 p.m., possibly the same skunk -- though Det. Paul Camillieri couldn't confirm this -- was reportedly in the area of the district office.
"He got away again, tricky skunk," Camillieri said.
Though he added that if a skunk's covering this much ground, "chances are he's not rabid."
