‘Risking His Own Life Without Blinking’: Ossining Local Hero
We all know someone who's making a difference in this world. Let's help share these amazing stories! Presented by Ring.

OSSINING, NY — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we’re working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.
This submission comes from Sharon Abreau who nominated Joey Abreau of Ossining. As his mom, she wanted to highlight not only his paramedic and firefighter work, but also his care for keeping the folks at home safe.

Home town: Ossining
Hero's job: Fire/emergency response. He’s not only a volunteer firefighter he worked tirelessly as a paramedic for Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
Reason for recognition: He worked long shifts on the front line putting his own health in danger taking care of the people affected with COVID 19. He made sure to leave his clothing at work to wash so we wouldn’t have contact with it and kept us all safe at home! He's a hero.
One thing to know: He put his heart into each individual patient he came in contact with
while risking his own life without blinking an eye! He worked day and night to keep his
community safe and he will always be a hero in our eyes.
Thank you for all you do, Joey!
