An initial investigation by the Troop F Bureau of Criminal Investigation determined that 45-year-old Bravo Nondo, of Albany, had been traveling south on I-87 when he stopped his 2020 Nissan on the acceleration ramp and exited his vehicle, walking to the back for unknown reasons.

A 2019 Nissan driven by 35-year-old Gregg M. Albaum, of Nanuet, was trying to enter I-87 south via the Exit 14 acceleration lane and tried to avoid Nondo's vehicle, which was stopped in the lane, and then struck Nondo.

Despite life-saving measures being administered at the scene, Nondo succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Albaum was taken to Nyack Hospital for treatment.

The New York State Attorney General's Office was notified of the incident and responded.

State police say the investigation remains ongoing, and ask that anyone who witnessed the crash contact the SP Haverstraw Bureau of Criminal Investigation at 845-344-5300.
