State Police: Ossining Man Uninjured in Crash that Kills Other Driver

New York State Police out of Ellenville, in Ulster County, are investigating a two-car collision between one driver from Ossining who suffered no injuries and another driver from Highland Falls who died.

The accident took place on State Route 52 in the Town of Warwarsing.

State Police of Troop F said that Shawn Howell, 24, of Highland Falls, was driving eastbound on Route 52 when he entered the opposite lane to pass other drivers. He then “lost control of his vehicle when he attempted to reenter the eastbound lane,” police said.

The Ford sedan struck a westbound box truck being driven by a 28-year-old Ossining man. The Ossining driver sustained no injuries, police said.

Howell was pronounced dead by emergency room staff upon his arrival at Ellenville Hospital.
