A 60-year-old Peekskill man faces a felony count of second-degree assault after he allegedly beat a 48-year-old man with a large glass sugar dispenser on March 22.

Peekskill police arrested Richards on March 28 after the alleged assault, which police said took place in front of a deli on the 900 block of Main Street.Â
The Peekskill Ambulance Corps transported the victim to Westchester Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries. Police said they waited six days to arrest Richards because they needed the victim to sign a complaint.

Sgt. Ray Henderlong of the Peekskill police department said the victim is acquainted with Richards, but it was unclear how well the two knew each other.
Richards was arraigned and sent to Westchester County Jail with a bail set at $10,000.
