William C. Bird, 48, was arrested on August 27 at his home on Washington Street in Tarrytown by Croton police for allegedly violating an order of protection.
Croton police Sgt. John Nikitopoulos said Bird had been repeatedly trying to communicate with his ex-partner, a female owner of the Green Growler where he served as manager, buyer and beer server between the dates of March 2011 to April 2013.
While the district attorney's office recommended bail be set at $20,000, the judge arraigned Bird and released him with a court date.
However, when Bird arrived for court on August 28, police locked him up again.
"After he was released, that night he attempted to do the same thing, attempting to contact other persons," Nikitopoulos said.
This time police charged him with a felony criminal contempt in the first degree, for again violating the order of protection.
The judge set bail at $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond, which Bird could not post. He was brought to Westchester County Jail.
According to Nikitopoulos, "he's been jailed numerous times for the same thing. He keeps doing it."
