OSSINING, NY — Two former officers are suing Ossining's police chief and the village, alleging that their complaints about the chief led to retaliation including suspension without pay, The Journal News reported.

Louis Rinaldi said he was targeted by Chief Kevin Sylvester over substance abuse and domestic violence incidents, according to TJN. Andrea Zambrano said she filed a harassment complaint against Sylvester and tried to get assigned to a shift that limited their interaction.

Both said their disputes with the chief cost them jobs at other local police departments, the paper reported. Read the details at lohud.com.

"We believe that this lawsuit is a spite lawsuit by two disgruntled former employees," Attorney Brian Sokoloff told Patch. "It's very easy to make allegations in a lawsuit, but they have to come up with the evidence and we don't think that the evidence is there."

Sokoloff said they were currently reviewing the suit, which was filed in state Supreme Court.
