Village Re-opens Croton Riverfront Parks
It's been two weeks since devastating storms flooded the Hudson Valley. Swimming is restricted at Silver Lake, which was damaged July 9.

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, NY — Silver Lake and Mayo's Landing are again open to the public following a two-week closure after heavy rainfall led to devastating flooding across the Hudson Valley.
Swimming is currently restricted to the shallow area of Silver Lake.
The extreme weather of July 9 caused storm damage, dangerous currents and extremely high flow rates on the Croton River below the dam, and caused the village to close both Silver Lake and Mayo’s Landing. Silver Lake suffered a partial washout of its beach area.

Parts of the Hudson Valley, including the catchment area for the Croton Reservoir, received more than 8 inches of rain from July 9 to July 10. The massive rainstorm caused creeks, streams and rivers to overflow, killing one, undermining and closing roadways and damaging infrastructure across the region.
This weekend, President Joe Biden approved New York’s request for a major disaster declaration.
