Wobble Cafe Becoming a Summer Staple All Around Ossining

On 90-degree days like these, nothing beats a Mixed Berry smoothie at Wobble Cafe.

The place was quietly populated with customers enjoying the cool drinks and salads, the large buildable blocks in the play area, the refuge from the blistering sun. Even co-owner Beylka Krupp's kids are here, wiling away the days until camp starts, watching a movie on the office computer in the back.

Admittedly, things are slower in-house during the summer months, but Wobble Cafe has other action going on to make up for it.

They are a fixture at the Friday night concert series in Ossining, which this year for the Bicentennial celebrations is followed by a movie. Here they sell drinks and "grillmaster" co-owner Rich Foshay serves up burgers, dogs, veggie burgers, "not" dogs, grilled corn, couscous salad, and brown rice salad. Blue Pig of Croton is on hand with their amazing ice cream as well.

Then, for the third year in a row, they run a snack bar with drinks and treats at Torview Swim Club. "We're happy to be a part of the efforts they're making to revitalize themselves," Krupp said.

They're pleased to be making healthier food for kids and adults -- offering mini paninis and salad, but "we can't pretend we don't do burgers and dogs too," Krupp said.

All this amounts to things getting "extra busy this summer," Krupp said.

Great news for a business that aims to make the very neighborhood they live in a better place. Krupp and Foshay are residents of nearby Campwoods Campground (a recent of tour of this to come), said, "we're happy to live in a neighborhood we work in," Krupp said. "We want to sustain where we live."

Ossining, on the whole, she said, "is coming." Revitalization happens by "baby steps," Krupp said, and, as many local families know well, Wobble is very baby-friendly.
