6 People Rescued Off Nassau Shore

The occupants of a 21-foot vessel had reported they were in distress.

BAYVILLE, NY — Six people aboard a 21-foot boat were rescued Monday night after they reported they were in distress off the shore of Bayville, Nassau police said.

Marine 11 of the Nassau County Police Marine Bureau Unit was actively monitoring VHF radio frequencies when a distress call came in around 9:55 p.m., the department said.

Marine 11, along with the Town of Oyster Bay constables, found the vessel. Crews were able to bring the six people and the vessel back to safety. No injuries were reported, police said.
