Brookville Teen Awarded $36K For 'Repairing The World'
The 2018 Diller Teen Tikkun Olam Award is presented to youth leaders who excel in leadership, community service and action.

A Brookville teen was the recipient of a $36,000 national award for her commitment to "tikkun olam," which stands for repairing the world.
The Helen Diller Family Foundation awarded Sara Blau and 14 other young leaders from across the nation with the 2018 Diller Teen Tikkun Olam Award. This award is presented to youth leaders who excel in leadership, community service and action.
Blau was presented the award at a luncheon at San Francisco’s Four Seasons Hotel on Monday, Aug. 20.

She stood out from hundreds to teens to receive this award thanks to her founding of the nonprofit, Game Changers New York, which looks to empower disadvantaged youth locally and globally by providing sports equipment, and consequently, the opportunity to become athletes.
Blau plans on using the $36,000 and the connections she made with the other teens and previous award winners she met at the luncheon to continue growing her project.
