Copper Wire Theft Was Inside Job, Nassau Police Say

Two employees at the Getty Terminal Corp. in Jericho have been arrested, police said.

JERICHO, NY — Nassau County police officers were called to Getty Terminal Corp. at 125 Jericho Turnpike after a quantity of copper wire was reported to have been stolen some time between Wednesday and 6 a.m. Thursday.

Police said after a thorough investigation was conducted, two employees were suspected of the crime.

Carlos Hernandez, 35, of 25-107 71st Ave. in Bellerose and Hugo Ayala, 23, of 4 Nassau Blvd. in Malverne were arrested without incident, police said.

Both face charges of Burglary 3rd Degree and Grand Larceny 2nd Degree. They were scheduled to be arraigned on Friday at First District Court 99 Main St., Hempstead.
