Jericho Students Publish Book With Canon USA's Future Authors Project
The students took writing, photography workshops and published stories about their own lives: "It's so important to me to get my voice out."

JERICHO, NY β Jericho High School students saw their own photography and writing in published form this month, part of a collaboration with CANON U.S.A., headquartered in Melville.
The program is called the Future Authors Project and 2022 was the fifth year Jericho students participated.
The students' book βWith Every Letter Comes a Story,β is a collection of personal narratives and photography. The students took photo and writing workshops, and at the end of the program, Canon prints the books and the students hold an official book launch at Jericho High, signing copies.

Amy Rasmussen is one of the students who participated.
In a video shared by Canon, she said "It's so important to me to get my voice out there."

Another student, Qi Wang, said she felt powerful from the process after feeling "powerless" during the pandemic.
The process "gives students who identify as writers, Jericho English teacher Suzanne Valenza, said, "a chance to actually get published."
