Oyster Bay High School Announces Valedictorian And Salutatorian

Both Class of 2026 students are active in academics and extracurricular activities.

OYSTER BAY, NY β€” Oyster Bay High School named its valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 2026: Mia Bencal and Julia Milos, respectively, the district said.

Mia Bencal has earned the title of valedictorian with a weighted GPA of 110.46. She plans to major in biology and then attend medical school.

Bencal is active on the sports field, as captain of both the soccer and basketball teams, and part of the lacrosse team.

She also leads the school publication as editor-in-chief of the Harbor Voice. Bencal is also the president of both Quill and Scroll and Science Olympiad.

Aside from sports and academics, Bencal is part of both the wind ensemble and jazz band, as well as the music honor society Tri-M. She participates in SALP and is working towards achieving the Girl Scouts Gold Award.

Julia Milos has been named salutatorian and is involved in both academic and extracurricular activities. She is captain of the varsity sailing team, earning a full scholarship through the Coastal Education Program – Sterling Harbor Foundation. She has logged 107 sea miles through the Atlantic Ocean aboard the Concordia sloop Arcadia.

Academically, Milos has earned STEM awards and attended college summer programs in actuarial science and STEM fields. She wants to become an actuary. She was recently recognized as a commended student through the College Board National Merit Scholars program. She is also the president of the math honor society, and a member of over honor societies.

Milos has performed in school musicals and designed playbills for productions. She has earned 2nd place in Oyster Bay High School’s Juried Art Competition and the Best in Show Award at the 6x6 Heckscher Museum Collaborative Exhibit.
