Police Accuse Massapequa Driver Of Possessing Illegal Gun
Police said they searched the vehicle after a traffic stop in Bethpage.

BETHPAGE, NY — A Massapequa man faces weapons charges and vehicular law violations after a traffic stop in Bethpage on Tuesday, Nassau police said.
According to detectives, Eighth Precinct officers conducted a traffic stop near Union Avenue and Hicksville Road at 10:40 a.m. After a thorough investigation, officers located a black handgun in the vehicle, police said.
Shyheim Smith, 27, of 4387 Merrick Road was arrested without incident.

Smith is charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2 nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4 th Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations, police said.
He was scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday at First District Court, 99 Main Street in
Hempstead.
