Town Of Oyster Bay Extends Pool, Cooling Center Hours

OYSTER BAY, NY — As the heat and humidity make it feel like a sauna outside, the Town of Oyster Bay is extending pool hours through Friday.

All town pool locations will stay open until 8 p.m.

"As temperatures increase throughout the day, a combination of heat and humidity has the potential to become overwhelming, especially out in the direct sun," Supervisor Joseph Saladino said. "For our residents and their families looking for a fun way to beat to heat, we invite them to visit any of our wonderful pool facilities."

The five town pools are:

Bethpage Community Park
Marjorie Post Community Park, Massapequa Park
Plainview-Old Bethpage Community Park
and the saltwater pool at Tappen Beach in Glenwood Landing.

Another option for residents are cooling centers, including the Town Ice Skating Center on Stewart Avenue in Bethpage and the Town Athletic Center on South Broadway in Hicksville. They will remain open until 11 p.m. "for those who may need a temporary location to cool off," Saladino said.
