It takes place on June 14 at Centre Island Beach in Bayville.
BAYVILLE, NY — In an effort to help Terrapin turtles survive predators, The Town of Oyster Bay officials have announced a Beach Cleanup Day.
The town and Friends of the Bay will launch "Team Terrapin" to help protect the diamond terrapin turtle.
"These turtles, which have distinctive diamond-shaped rings covering their shells, have a near-threatened conservation status, Councilman Andrew Monteleone said. "We are working with our environmental partners and local volunteers to help protect this vulnerable species."
