'The Watcher' Motel Scenes Filmed At Long Island's Tides Motor Inn
Outdoor scenes in the second episode of the hit Netflix series were filmed at The Tides Motor Inn, also featured in "The Punisher."

LOCUST VALLEY, NY β Does the motel in the hit Netflix series "The Watcher" look familiar?
The Tides Motor Inn in Locust Valley has been a recurring standing for creepy motels in some recent Netflix shows, including "The Punisher," some eagle-eyed Reddit posters and IMDB have found.
Now, the motor inn on Bayville Road appears in the number one Netflix show "The Watcher." The series is based on a true story of a New Jersey couple who buys their dream home in Westfield, New Jersey, only to begin receiving threatening anonymous letters from someone calling themselves The Watcher.

In the second episode of the series, Naomi Watts' character and her children hide out in a rundown hotel to hide from The Watcher. The exterior scenes of the motel appear to be The Tides in Locust Valley. An IMDB listing also confirms that "The Watcher" was partially filmed in Locust Valley.

In the real-life story the show is based on, the family never ends up moving into a motel or the house itself, eventually selling it for a $400,000 loss.
The sender of the ominous letters was never found, following multiple investigations.
The Tides Motor Inn's days as a Hollywood backdrop may be numbered, however: A recent development proposal seeks to remodel and rebrand a hotel at The Tides, part of a larger "waterfront event center."
