BROOKLYN, NY — A Brooklyn N train straphanger spat on and beat another rider with a baton, police said.

The 41-year-old was attacked on a southbound train near Fort Hamilton Parkway and 10th Avenue about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, police said.

The unidentified attacker walked up and spat in his face, NYPD officials said.

In response to the unprompted spit-attack, the straphanger pulled out a phone and started filming the attacker, police said.

The attacker, though, escalated the violence, whipping out a baton and beating the straphanger in the arm and leg, according to the NYPD. He then punched the 41-year-old in the face, police said.

First responders rushed the beaten straphanger to a nearby hospital in stable condition, according to the NYPD.

The attacker, meanwhile, stayed on the train and escaped to an unknown location, said police, who were still looking for him as of Wednesday night.
