NUUK, Greenland - Bay Ridge boxer Sebastian Mazeneth scored his biggest win yet in his international debut, knocking out amateur standout Mads Bejder Christensen in two rounds on Saturday at Godthabhallen in Greenland’s capital city of Nuuk.

It was a brutal exhibition from Mazeneth, a finalist in last year’s New York Ring Masters Championships. The 21-year-old dropped his opponent four times - once in the first and then three more times in the second - to force the stoppage. Mazeneth scored the first knockdown with a left hook and used his aggressive body punching to set up the right hands that led to the next three knockdowns.

The win was a major step forward for Mazeneth, as Christensen had nearly three times the amount of fights that Mazeneth has with over 30 bouts, and had been ranked no. 4 at welterweight in Denmark. Christensen, who won the prestigious Hancock Box Cup and Hvidovre Box Cup tournaments in Denmark, had never previously been stopped.

“It was a great experience and honor fighting in front of the people of Greenland. It was my first time fighting without headgear and on the world stage. It felt great to make a statement with this win,” said Mazeneth, a junior at College of Staten Island who is trained by Ryan Songalia and Argenis Arce.

Next, Mazeneth will turn his attention to the New York Boxing Tournament, which is scheduled to begin in July. Prior to boxing, Mazeneth, who was born in Barranquilla, Colombia, played cornerback and safety for the Fort Hamilton High School football team in Bay Ridge, earning All City and New York All Star Team honors.
