Bill De Blasio To Hold Town Hall In Park Slope With Brad Lander

It will be the latest stop on the mayor's tour of town halls in all of the city council districts.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — Mayor Bill de Blasio will return to his home neighborhood next week for a town hall meeting in Park Slope with City Councilman Brad Lander.

It will be the latest stop on a tour of town halls the mayor is doing of every council district in the city. Lander's District 39 includes Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, Gowanus, Park Slope, Windsor Terrace and Kensington.

The town hall will take place on Thursday, Oct. 26 at M.S. 51 on Fifth Avenue. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the event will begin at 7:30.

"Mayor de Blasio is no stranger to us in this community, of course," Lander wrote in an email to constituents on Thursday. "He served on the Community School Board for District 15, and represented us in the City Council for 8 years. He & Chirlane are still regulars at the Prospect Park YMCA on 9th Street, at Colson’s, and at Bar Toto. I ran into them last week when I went to visit the victims of the fire on 11th Street."

The mayor will take questions from constituents in the district on a range of topics.

"There’s so much more to do: on public transit, housing affordability, to combat and prepare for climate change, to integrate our public schools, to plan the future of Gowanus, to make our neighborhoods more accessible," Lander wrote. "You can ask about these issues -- or whatever you are most passionate about. In addition to the Mayor, we’ll be joined by commissioners and senior staff from many City agencies."

De Blasio lived in Park Slope until he was elected mayor, when he moved into Gracie Mansion on the Upper East Side. The mayor still visits the neighborhood most mornings when he rides in an SUV motorcade to the Park Slope YMCA to work out, something he's drawn criticism for as he preaches about cutting emissions to curb climate change.

Anyone who wants to attend the town hall can RSVP here. Here's a flyer Lander's office has been passing out with more information:
