Brooklyn Game Lab Opens Another 7th Avenue Location

Another place to send your kid for some unplugged fun.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — Brooklyn Game Lab, where kids can play board games and have other unplugged fun, opened its second Brooklyn location on Saturday.

The game lab's second spot is on the corner of Seventh Avenue and Windsor Place in the Park Slope-Windsor Terrace area. Its first location is on Seventh Avenue between 10th and 11th streets.

"We’ve been blessed by Park Slope’s support for unplugged play," Robert Hewitt, the founder of Brooklyn Game Lab, said in a press release. "The new location is going to allow us to take our unique programming to the next level and share the joy and value of gaming with more kids and more parents."

Brooklyn Game Lab offers after-school, day camp and weekend programs for kids. The lab uses board games to teach skills such as strategic planning, negotiation, perseverance, collaboration, and empathy, according to a Brooklyn Game Lab press release.

Saturday's grand opening of the new location drew about 600 kids, according to spokeswoman Mary Sternbach.

"We were blown away by the opening's success!" Sternbach told Patch. "We had about 600 people show up to celebrate. We unveiled a new after school program, called Lab of the Ancients at the event, which is offers a great over view of ancient cultures and history thru games like Go and Chess."
