PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — A helicopter was circling the Park Slope area on Sunday night, startling some residents in and around the neighborhood. It started around 10:15 p.m. and could still be heard by 11.
Patch reached out to both the NYPD's media relations line and the 72nd Precinct's office, and neither could tell us what was going on.
Noah Hurowitz, a reporter with DNAinfo, though, said on Twitter that an officer on the street told him the chopper was involved in a movie shoot. It's unclear whether the helicopter was actually part of the shoot or responding to a fire from it, Hurowitz said.

Cop on the street said the choppers over gowanus are because of a fake fire from a movie shoot

Also my impression was that the choppers were looking into the smoke from the shoot, not necessarily part of it

The last time something like this happened, back in March, an NYPD helicopter was searching for a missing child in the area.
